THE CHURCH OF ST. GAYANĒ

The Church of St. Gayanē was erected by the orders of the energetic and distinguished Catholicos Ezr in 630. During this period, Armenia was experiencing an overall renaissance in socio- political, economic and spiritual aspects. St. Gayanē along with eminent churches such as St. Hripsime, the Cathedral of Zvartnots and the Mother Church of Holy Echmiadzin would form the essential pillars of spiritual strength of Armenia. Sections of the left wing of the Church were rebuilt during the later part of the XVIIth Century.
