YOUTH PALACE

At the end of one of the most beloved and favorite streets of Yerevanians -- the Abovian Street -- on a high-elevated hill overlooking the capital, stands the Youth Palace. This is relatively a "new building" in a city that has a three-thousand year history located in at least six-thousand year settlement. The Palace of the Youth in of itself combines old and new elements of architecture. The entrance hall is were many of the entertainment rooms, fraternity clubs, and organizational facilities for the youth are located. The dome of the structure is built on a rotating chasse that in one hour circles and comes to the starting point - thus granting an aerial view of the city. The Youth Palace was originally intended to be a recreational youth development center for the pioneers the young Communists.
